Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for tree pruning and removal in Empangeni, specifically to cut and clear designated trees along specified streets. The aim is to ensure safe and compliant tree management, including the removal of dry alien trees and pruning of specified trees, in accordance with health and safety standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Tree cutting and pruning using chainsaws on streets such as Nerina Road, Turnbull, Jenner Road, Nkonkoni Road (Ngwelezane), and Hartbees.
• Removal of dry alien trees adjacent to properties during alien plant control.
• Designated trees to be felled as per the list provided by the Council Supervisor.
• Disposal of logs, limbs, chips, and debris generated from the work.
• Site cleanup and restoration to pre-work conditions.
• Implementation of traffic safety measures, including barricades, signs, and flag persons.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• Use of chainsaws and other equipment in full compliance with health and safety standards.
• Precutting of heavy branches to prevent property damage.
• Final cuts made close to ground level, with limbs and debris removed from the site.
• Proper disposal of all debris at designated dumping sites.
• Protection of surrounding property, utilities, and vegetation during operations.
• Use of mechanical devices such as ropes to lower large limbs safely.
• Protection of public streets and pedestrian pathways, ensuring no obstruction overnight.

Skills Requirements
