Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure rigging and crane hire services for the Tippler 02 and Chrome Route at the Port of Richards Bay. The services aim to support the annual shutdown activities, including maintenance, repairs, and component replacements, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency during the specified period.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of rigging and crane hire services for Tippler 02 and Chrome Route during the 2026 annual shutdown.
• Work on components such as conveyor belts, pulleys, hydraulic systems, drive systems, and structural repairs.
• Rigging and crane operations for tasks like belt replacements, pulley lagging, structural repairs, and component installations.
• Services to be performed over a period of 14 days, from 06:00 to 22:00 hours daily, with specific activities scheduled for each day, including spares movements and site establishment.
• Compliance with relevant safety, health, and environmental standards during execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Provision of qualified riggers with valid certificates (minimum of 2 riggers with certificates, 3 preferred).
• LEEASA accreditation for riggers and proof of crane availability, including specific crane capacities (e.g., 160-ton, 50-ton, 8-ton).
• Compliance with applicable national and international standards such as SANS 687, SANS 500:2009, SANS 10388:2008, SANS 94-1:2003, SANS 2408:2005, and ISO 3056:1986.
• Provision of proof of experience through purchase orders for major projects within the past 24 months, with a minimum experience value of R1 million.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental specifications, including PPE requirements and site safety protocols.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Qualified riggers with valid certification and relevant experience.
• Proven capability to supply and operate cranes of specified capacities.
• Experience in executing similar rigging and crane services during major shutdowns or maintenance activities.
• Compliance with safety standards and ability to work within the operational environment of the Port Rail Terminal.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with Transnet’s technical and safety personnel to ensure timely and safe completion of all tasks.
