Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a contractor to remove trees that are causing damage to infrastructure at SAPS Bethulie, including works such as cutting stumps, treating herbicides, pruning branches, and ensuring the safety and integrity of nearby buildings and structures.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Removing specific trees (Fraxinus sp, Rhus sp, Melia sp, Ligustrum sp, Quercus sp) growing near buildings, foundations, roofs, and paving that are causing damage or pose risks.
• Cutting stumps at soil level and applying herbicide (Kaput® or similar).
• Pruning branches resting on roofs, ensuring trees are balanced and neat after pruning.
• Providing all necessary equipment, labor, and materials for the removal and pruning activities.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Removal of specified trees with detailed measurements (height, stump diameter).
• Herbicide treatment of cut stumps to prevent regrowth.
• Pruning branches to prevent damage to buildings, with proper balancing and neatness.
• Adherence to safety standards and environmental considerations during tree removal and pruning.
• Site clearance and proper disposal of debris, with no burning allowed; all rubble to be taken to designated dumping sites.

Skills Requirements

The skills required for the tender include:

• Qualified arborists or tree removal specialists with experience in hazardous tree removal near infrastructure.
• Knowledge of herbicide application and stump treatment.
