Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the supply and delivery of sugar (including white sugar, brown sugar, and sweeteners) to Dora Nginza Hospital for a period of twelve months. The aim is to ensure the hospital has a consistent supply of quality sugar products that meet specified standards and nutritional requirements.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Supply and delivery of various sugar products (white sugar, brown sugar, sweeteners) in specified quantities and packaging.
• Adherence to detailed product specifications including quality, packaging, labeling, and shelf life.
• Delivery to Dora Nginza Hospital’s designated storage facilities within the stipulated timeframe.
• Compliance with technical, quality, and logistical requirements as outlined in the tender documents.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the sugar products include:

• White Sugar: Grade A, homogeneous, dry, free-flowing crystals, moisture not exceeding 0.05%, packed in bleached Kraft paper/poly bags, with labels indicating product name, weight, grade, nutritional info, expiry date.
• Brown Sugar: Grade A, moist, finely grained, with a fudge/toffee aroma, moisture not exceeding 0.05%, packed similarly, with a shelf life of 12 months.
• Sweeteners: Good quality, anti-caking, Aspartame-free, 1g sachets (equivalent to 10g sugar), packed in opaque bleached sulphate paper sachets, with appropriate labeling, transported in cool, ventilated conditions.

Additional requirements include proper transportation, handling, and storage to maintain product integrity and compliance with health standards.

Skills and Competency Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Experience in supplying and delivering food-grade sugar products to healthcare or similar institutions, supported by client reference letters.
• Availability of delivery vehicles within the Eastern Cape Province capable of meeting delivery schedules and specifications, with proof of vehicle registration or agreements.
• Understanding of quality standards, packaging, labeling, and logistical arrangements necessary for timely and compliant delivery.
• Compliance with procurement regulations, including tax compliance, supplier registration, and preference points claims for specific goals such as local economic development and disadvantaged groups.
