Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure and supply haemodialysis acid concentrates, specifically Calcium 1.25 mmol/L and Calcium 1.75 mmol/L, for a period of twelve months to Livingstone Tertiary Hospital. The aim is to ensure the hospital has a reliable supply of high-quality concentrates suitable for haemodialysis treatment, complying with specified technical and safety standards.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Supply and delivery of haemodialysis acid concentrates with Calcium concentrations of 1.25 mmol/L and 1.75 mmol/L.
• Provision of concentrates sufficient to complete a standard 4-hour haemodialysis session.
• Delivery to Livingstone Tertiary Hospital and associated sites, including PE Provincial Hospital, over a 12-month period.
• Provision of product samples for testing prior to award.
• Supply of product packaging, including containers that are sturdy, secure, and easily distinguishable between acidic and alkaline types.

The technical specifications for the concentrates are as follows:

For Calcium 1.25 mmol/L Concentrate:

• Contain sufficient concentrate for a 4-hour haemodialysis session.
• State bottle size and mixing ratio.
• Registered in South Africa.
• Per 1000 ml composition:
  • Sodium chloride: 210.68 g
  • Potassium chloride: 5.22 g
  • Calcium chloride dihydrate: 6.4 g
  • Magnesium chloride hexahydrate: 3.56 g
  • Glacial acetic acid: 6.31 g
  • Glucose monohydrate: 38.50 g
  • Added to 1000 ml purified water
• Post-mixing dialysate must produce:
  • Na+: 138 mmol/L
  • Ca++: 1.25 mmol/L
  • K+: 2 mmol/L
  • Mg++: 0.5 mmol/L
  • Cl-: 109 mmol/L
  • HCO3-: 32 mmol/L
  • CH3COO-: 3 mmol/L
  • Glucose: 1 g/L
• Shelf-life greater than 18 months.
• Container specifications, including ease of opening and distinction between acid and alkaline containers.

For Calcium 1.75 mmol/L Concentrate:

• Same as above, with the composition per 1000 ml:

Skills and Technical Requirements

• Bidder must be registered and registered in South Africa.
• Provide product samples for testing prior to award.
• Supply product with appropriate packaging, including sturdy, secure, and distinguishable containers.
• Ensure products meet specified chemical compositions and produce correct dialysate parameters after mixing.
• Provide product documentation, including package inserts and container details.
• Maintain shelf life of over 18 months.
• Bidder must be registered on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) and provide proof of registration.
• Comply with all technical standards for safety, quality, and packaging as specified.
• Ensure timely delivery and availability of concentrates for the duration of the contract.
