Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to conduct an external audit of the Tzaneen landfill site. The audit aims to assess compliance with environmental legislation and license conditions, evaluate operational practices, and calculate the remaining air space available at the landfill. The findings will support environmental management and planning for the landfill's future use.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Assessing compliance of the landfill site with relevant legislation, license conditions, and environmental standards.
• Reviewing operational practices, environmental monitoring records, and engineering systems.
• Conducting site visits and data analysis to identify non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Calculating the remaining air space at the permitted landfill site.
• Preparing and presenting comprehensive audit and airspace reports.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the service provider include:

• Demonstrated experience in environmental assessment, monitoring, and auditing, with at least 10 years of relevant work experience supported by appointment letters.
• Key personnel must have a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience, with qualifications in Natural Sciences or related fields.
• Qualifications such as degrees in Natural Sciences, diplomas, and registration with professional bodies (e.g., SACNASP, EAPASA) are mandatory.
• Ability to review and analyze environmental data, conduct site inspections, and produce detailed reports.
• Compliance with the municipality's procurement policies and ability to deliver within the specified contract period (once-off).
