Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for infrared scanning and testing of electrical distribution boards (DBs) and associated equipment at Port Shepstone Hospital. The aim is to ensure electrical safety, identify potential faults, and maintain the integrity of electrical systems within the hospital infrastructure.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply, delivery, and installation of all necessary materials and equipment.
• Conducting infrared thermographic testing on all electrical DBs, air handling motors, control boards, main DBs in plant rooms, and pump motors/chillers.
• Testing to be performed in accordance with relevant standards, regulations, and specifications.
• Ensuring all work is completed within the specified contract period of four weeks from site handover.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations, including preparation of a comprehensive safety file.
• Providing detailed reports, certificates, and documentation of testing results.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with all relevant standards such as SANS 1042-1, IEC 439-1, and Department of Public Works specifications.
• Use of approved and certified electrical equipment and tools.
• Proper calibration and functioning of infrared testing devices.
• Inspection and testing of all specified electrical components as per the Bill of Quantities and drawings.
• Preparation of a detailed safety plan aligned with Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations.
• Submission of all required safety and compliance documentation prior to commencement.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Qualified electrical technicians with valid wireman's licenses and relevant trade certificates.
• Experience in thermographic testing and electrical system inspections in healthcare or similar environments.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including the preparation and management of safety files.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and standards.
• Competence in preparing detailed reports, certificates, and documentation of test results.
• Capacity to coordinate site activities, ensure safety compliance, and complete work within the stipulated timeframe.
