Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the service of an emergency generator as per the attached specifications, ensuring proper maintenance, testing, and fuel management to guarantee reliable emergency power supply at Umphumulo Hospital.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Performing comprehensive maintenance and servicing of a 550 KVA emergency generator, including engine oil change, filter replacements, radiator flushing, and system checks.
• Providing fuel tank cleaning and fuel remediation services to ensure diesel quality and prevent generator failure due to contaminated fuel.
• Conducting fuel analysis tests and providing detailed reports on fuel quality, including sampling, testing, and certification.
• Ensuring all work is performed by qualified personnel, adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Technical Requirements

The service must include:

• Engine maintenance: draining and replacing engine oil, replacing filters, flushing radiators, and checking engine components.
• Fuel system servicing: sampling, cleaning, and remediating diesel fuel tanks, removing debris, water, and bio-film.
• Fuel analysis: conducting tests according to SANS 342:2006 standards, including density, viscosity, flashpoint, water content, contamination, and sulphur levels.
• Documentation: providing reports, certificates of waste disposal, and fuel remediation status.
• Compliance with safety legislation and use of approved equipment and technology.

Skills and Qualifications Requirements

The bidder must demonstrate:

• Qualified diesel mechanics and electricians with relevant certifications and experience in generator maintenance and fuel system servicing.
• Proficiency in fuel sampling, testing, and analysis according to SANAS-accredited standards.
• Ability to operate and maintain specialized tank cleaning and fuel remediation equipment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental management related to fuel handling and generator servicing.
• Capability to produce detailed reports, certificates, and documentation as specified.
