Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the service of fire equipment as per the attached specifications for Umphumulo Hospital and its clinics. The service aims to ensure that fire safety equipment across multiple clinics is maintained, tested, and recharged in accordance with South African standards, thereby enhancing safety and compliance.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of fire equipment servicing at seven clinics: Isithundu, Macumbi, Mbhekaphansi, Mthandeni, Qageni, Otimati, and Maphumulo.
• Full servicing and recharge of specified fire extinguishers (4.5 kg and 9 kg), hose reels, and fire detection systems.
• Inspection, testing, and verification of fire alarm systems with detailed reports.
• Compliance with SANAS accreditation, SANS 1475, SABS standards, and other relevant certifications.
• Provision of signage, labels, and mandatory safety signage in accordance with SABS standards.
• Coordination with hospital safety officers and submission of itemized billing and reports.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Service and recharge of 4.5 kg and 9 kg fire extinguishers as specified.
• Full servicing of hose reels and fire detection systems, including testing and verification of system functionality.
• Provision of detailed written reports on fire detection system tests.
• Compliance with SANAS accreditation, SANS 1475, SANAS, SABS standards, and current registration with SAQCC.
• Use of SABS-approved signage, photo-luminescent and glow-in-the-dark signage.
• Proper numbering and labeling of all fire equipment and signage.
• Notification and coordination with hospital safety officers prior to service activities.

Skills Requirements

The service provider must possess:

• Current SANAS accreditation and certification for fire equipment servicing.
• Registered technicians with South African Qualification & Certification Committee (SAQCC), with current registration certificates.
• Active Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) registration.
• Valid SARS and Workmen’s Compensation certificates.
• Mobile workshop facilities approved by SABS if on-site servicing is required.
• Technicians trained and certified in fire safety and servicing standards.
• Knowledge of and compliance with SABS, SANAS, and SANS standards for fire safety equipment.
• Ability to provide detailed reports, itemized billing, and coordinate inspections with hospital safety officers.
