Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage qualified service providers to perform maintenance and inspection services for fire stations located at the Aquarium and Camperdown Road. The goal is to ensure that all fire safety systems are compliant with relevant standards, operationally sound, and properly documented to enhance safety and regulatory compliance.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Visual inspections of all accessible valves, gauges, and equipment, ensuring proper functionality and security.
• Control valve checks: verifying open/locked positions, inspecting for leaks, corrosion, damage, and exercising valves to confirm operation.
• Water supply assessments: cleaning strainers, inspecting pipes for leaks or corrosion, and verifying the operation of jockey pumps.
• Gauges and instruments: checking calibration, testing alarm pressure switches, and installing new gauges if necessary.
• Alarm device testing: water gong operation, remote signal transmission, and line inspections.
• Sprinkler system piping: visual inspection for corrosion, leaks, and mechanical integrity, including supports and unauthorized modifications.
• Documentation: updating inspection logs, recording test results, deficiencies, corrective actions, and issuing compliance certificates.

Additionally, the scope involves attending a site briefing, verifying quantities during site visits, and adhering to safety and operational standards as specified.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• Compliance with SANS 10287 / NFPA 25 standards for inspections and maintenance.
• Complete and accurate record-keeping of all inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
• Verification of signage, accessibility, and labeling of sprinkler stations and components.
• Operational testing of control valves, water supply systems, gauges, alarm devices, and sprinkler piping.
• Provision of qualified personnel equipped with necessary measuring instruments and PPE for site visits.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations, including the OSH Act, during all activities.
• Completion of all required documentation and submission of compliance certificates.
• Participation in a compulsory site briefing scheduled for 03 August 2025 at 10:00 am.

Suppliers must also ensure proper coordination with uShaka Marine World’s management and follow all site-specific safety and operational protocols.
