Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint three (3) qualified service providers to deliver electrical installation, maintenance, repairs, replacements, and new installations at Kirstenbosh National Botanical Garden (KNBG) over a period of three years. The service providers will ensure the electrical systems are properly maintained, operational, and compliant with relevant standards throughout the contract duration.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Attending to fault calls and conducting inspections.
• Performing servicing, repairs, maintenance, modifications, and installations of electrical systems.
• Ensuring all materials, equipment, and appliances originate from reputable manufacturers and adhere to SABS regulations.
• Providing emergency standby services 24/7 as required.
• Executing all work in accordance with specifications, safety standards, and environmental considerations.
• Coordinating work to avoid interference with existing services and ensuring accessibility for maintenance and repairs.
• Reporting and documenting all work performed, including testing, inspections, and certifications.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Provision of qualified electricians with relevant certifications and experience (minimum 5 years proven track record).
• Adherence to all applicable standards, including SANS 10142, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and municipal regulations.
• Use of materials and equipment that meet quality and safety standards, with proper documentation and certification.
• Implementation of safety measures, risk assessments, and environmental protections.
• Execution of tests, inspections, and commissioning of electrical systems, with proper certification.
• Provision of detailed work plans, methodologies, and timelines for project completion.
• Compliance with health and safety management systems, including preparation of safety plans and incident reporting.
• Participation in performance reviews and adherence to service level agreements.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for tenderers include:

• Proven experience in electrical services, maintenance, and repairs, with at least 5 years in the field.
• Qualified personnel with relevant certifications and memberships of professional bodies.
• Ability to supervise and control all personnel involved in the work.
• Knowledge of and compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and legislation.
• Capability to prepare and implement health and safety plans, risk assessments, and quality control measures.
• Experience in executing electrical installations, testing, and commissioning in similar environments.
• Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and reporting.
• Ability to respond promptly to fault calls and emergency situations.
