Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider responsible for the maintenance, repairs, and replacements of irrigation and pond engine pumps at the Lowveld National Botanical Garden in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, for a period of five years. The goal is to ensure the reliable operation and upkeep of essential irrigation infrastructure to support the botanical garden's operations.

Scope

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:

• Maintenance, repairs, and replacements of irrigation and pond engine pumps.
• Troubleshooting and resolution of engine pump-related issues.
• Maintenance and repair of control panels and irrigation gun systems.
• Repair and maintenance of steel pipes associated with engine pumps.
• Water pond repairs as required.
• Supply and installation of control panels for ponds.
• Checking pump pressure and volume at outlets.
• Maintenance of filters and other associated equipment.
• Repairs of infrastructure such as step ladders in pump houses.
• Provision of Job Cards upon completion of work.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that all work must adhere to:

• Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1995 and related regulations.
• Installation, servicing, and repair of equipment in accordance with manufacturers' specifications, instructions, and codes of practice.
• Use of only new, high-quality materials and equipment suitable for reliable service.
• Execution of work in a first-class, workman-like manner by qualified tradesmen.
• Conformance to relevant SANS specifications and municipal laws.
• Proper testing, inspection, and certification of all installed and repaired equipment, including operational tests over extended periods.
• Provision of guarantees from manufacturers for all new equipment, valid for 12 months from completion.
• Adherence to health and safety management systems, including site safety plans and incident reporting procedures.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate the following skills and expertise:

• Proven experience in maintaining, repairing, and replacing irrigation and pond engine pumps.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve engine pump-related issues efficiently.
• Qualified personnel with relevant certifications, qualifications, and experience in pump maintenance and repair.
• Capability to operate and repair control panels and associated infrastructure.
• Availability of skilled tradesmen familiar with municipal and safety regulations.
• Resources including operational workshop facilities, repair equipment, and response vehicles for site visits and emergency call-outs.
• Ability to provide comprehensive documentation, including Job Cards, test certificates, and maintenance reports.
• Demonstrated understanding of occupational health and safety standards and procedures.
