Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a Service Provider responsible for supplying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms to five SANBI centres—Harold Porter National Botanical Garden, Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Kwelera National Botanical Garden, and Hantam National Botanical Garden—over a period of five years. The service includes branding, distribution, and ensuring the PPE and uniforms meet specified standards, supporting the health, safety, and operational needs of staff across these centres.

Scope

The scope encompasses the provision of branded PPE and uniforms on an as-needed basis to the five specified SANBI centres located in different provinces. The service involves:

• Delivery of PPE and uniforms to each centre as per their requirements.
• Branding of PPE and uniforms according to SANBI specifications.
• Management of stock, distribution, and timely delivery.
• Provision of PPE and uniforms that comply with safety standards and specifications outlined in Annexure A.
• Ongoing supply for a contract duration of five years, with fixed pricing.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for PPE and uniforms are detailed in Annexure A, including:

• Types of PPE such as safety boots, gloves, helmets, goggles, respirators, and protective clothing.
• Uniform components including shirts, trousers, jackets, and accessories, with specified materials, colours, and sizes.
• Branding requirements, including embroidery of the SANBI logo on selected garments.
• Compliance with relevant safety standards such as ISO 9001, EN standards, and NFPA 1971-2018.
• Provision of textile data sheets, warranties, and OH&S risk management documentation.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Extensive experience in supplying PPE and uniforms, with at least ten (10) years of relevant expertise.
• Proven track record of managing similar contracts, with references from at least five (5) clients over the past five years.
• Capability to manage stock, logistics, and distribution efficiently across multiple provinces.
• Qualified personnel with relevant skills and experience, including a Contract Manager with 3-6 years of industry experience and qualified sales personnel.
• Ability to provide comprehensive implementation plans, including delivery management, stock control, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Compliance with quality management standards (ISO 9001) and safety standards.
