Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to perform a one-off calibration and repair service for specific electrical testing instruments required by the Transnet Pipelines Ladysmith workshop. The aim is to restore measurement accuracy, ensure operational safety, and obtain official certification for continued use of critical diagnostic equipment.

Scope of Services

The successful service provider will be responsible for:

• Diagnosing, repairing, and calibrating six (6) specified electrical testing instruments.
• Issuing valid calibration certificates upon completion of each instrument.
• Submitting a detailed, itemised quotation covering all requested services.
• Receiving equipment directly from Transnet Pipelines at their designated workshop location.

This engagement is strictly a once-off service provision with no expectation of ongoing contracts or recurring work.

Technical Requirements

Providers must demonstrate the technical capacity to service the following specialised equipment:

• 1 x Digital HV Insulation Tester
• 2 x Digital Insulation Testers
• 2 x Earth Resistance Testers
• 1 x Digital Low Resistance Ohm and Contact Meter

Technical capabilities must include access to appropriate calibration rigs, traceable reference standards, and documented procedures for high-voltage and low-resistance measurements. Providers must be able to perform functional repairs where necessary and return all instruments with fully compliant calibration certificates. Logistics for equipment transport to the service provider's facility are managed entirely by the client.

Skills Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate:

• Proven experience in the calibration and repair of high-voltage, insulation, earth resistance, and low-resistance electrical testing instruments.
• Working knowledge of applicable calibration standards, metrology principles, and certification protocols.
• Ability to accurately diagnose faults, execute precision calibration routines, and document results professionally.
• Competence in preparing transparent, structured quotations aligned with the specified equipment list.
• Operational reliability to complete the once-off assignment efficiently without disrupting workshop workflows.
