Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the maintenance and servicing of sewer and pump systems at specified health facilities, namely Pholela CHC and Underberg Clinic. The services include annual servicing, inspection, cleaning, repairs, and replacement of pump components to ensure optimal functionality of sewer and grinder pumps.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Servicing of sewer pumps, grinder pumps, and associated equipment at Pholela CHC and Underberg Clinic.
• Inspection, cleaning, and testing of pumps and control systems.
• Replacement of worn or faulty parts such as hoses, impellers, electrical connections, and control components.
• Provision of necessary spares, tools, and technical support for the maintenance activities.
• Adherence to specified standards and specifications, including compliance with SABS/SANS 825.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Inspection and cleaning of pumps, including checking for blockages, unusual noises, and vibration.
• Drainage and replacement of gear box oil with specified SAE 90 oil.
• Alignment of pumps and condition assessment of belts and couplings.
• Replacement of electrical components such as motor overload relays and phase failure relays.
• Checking and ensuring the proper operation of level controllers and float switches.
• Cleaning impeller casings and verifying clearances between impellers and casing.
• Testing motor windings and amperage, and inspecting pump joints for leaks.
• Providing comprehensive service reports post-maintenance.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Qualified artisans with relevant CIDB grading (e.g., 1ME or equivalent).
• Proven experience in servicing sewer and grinder pumps, with verifiable references of similar work.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical components of sewer pump systems.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and standards.
• Competence in using diagnostic tools and performing repairs according to safety and quality standards.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations and standards such as SABS/SANS 825.
