Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the maintenance and servicing of sluice machines at Appelsbosch Hospital over a six-month period. The aim is to ensure reliable operation, proper maintenance, and adherence to safety standards for the sluice machines used in the hospital.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Providing a six-month contractual service to maintain and service the sluice machines on a monthly basis.
• Inspection and testing of safety circuits, belts, drives, steam valves, motor directions, and other critical components of the sluice machines.
• Carrying out repairs, replacements, and necessary adjustments to ensure optimal functioning.
• Submitting detailed service reports after each maintenance visit.
• Running full test cycles post-service to verify operational status.
• Ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations during service activities.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the service include:

• Inspection and checking of safety circuits, belts, drives, steam valves, motor directions, cooling fans, and other machine components.
• Verification of motor mountings, belts, and drives for security and proper operation.
• Inspection of inlet strainers, valves, door seals, indicating lights, and control panels.
• Running complete test cycles to confirm machine functionality.
• Compliance with relevant standards such as SANS 10142-1, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) specifications.
• Provision of a certificate of compliance and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Skills Requirements

The tender stipulates that the service provider must possess:

• CIDB grading of EB/1ME, indicating experience in electrical and mechanical works.
• Qualified Electrician or Mechanical Certificate, demonstrating technical competence.
• Proven experience in servicing industrial washing or sluice machines, preferably in a healthcare or similar environment.
• Ability to work with approved materials and workmanship as per SABS standards.
• Capacity to prepare detailed service reports and handle repairs efficiently.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and proper handling of electrical and mechanical equipment.
