Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the maintenance, servicing, and technical support of standby generators at multiple KwaZulu-Natal health facilities, including Morrison, Baphumile, Gqayinyanga, and Gamalakhe CHC. The aim is to ensure reliable backup power supply through proper servicing, installation, and technical oversight of generators to support health service delivery.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of generators and related equipment.
• Servicing and maintenance of generators as per specifications, including replacement of filters, oil, and other consumables.
• Testing and inspection of generators to ensure operational readiness.
• Provision of spare parts, manuals, and technical support.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards during execution.
• Site visits, site inspections, and compliance with site-specific requirements.
• Provision of documentation including test reports, service reports, and compliance certificates.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Generators must be of specified capacity (e.g., 60 KVA, 80 KVA) and approved by relevant standards (SABS approved).
• Supply and installation of all necessary materials, spares, and accessories as per the Bill of Quantities and specifications.
• Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993 and related regulations.
• Provision of safety files, risk assessments, and safety plans prior to commencement.
• Testing of generators before handover, including operational checks and performance reports.
• Provision of warranty and after-sales support for specified periods (e.g., 12 or 18 months).
• Adherence to the Department of Health's specifications, standards, and approved brands or equivalents.
• Completion of all work within stipulated timeframes, with lead times of approximately one week for procurement and installation.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• Qualified technical personnel with relevant trade certificates (e.g., electricians, diesel mechanics).
• Experience in servicing and maintaining diesel generators, preferably of similar capacity and specifications.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Ability to prepare and submit detailed test reports, service reports, and compliance documentation.
• Capability to provide technical support, spare parts, and warranty services.
• Proficiency in site inspections, risk assessments, and safety planning.
