Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a service for the maintenance, servicing, and testing of booster pumps at Murchison Hospital to ensure continuous, reliable, and efficient water supply to various hospital facilities including wards, theatres, ICUs, laboratories, pharmacies, kitchens, laundries, CSSD, outpatient departments, and other critical areas.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply, delivery, installation, connection, testing, and commissioning of booster pumps and associated systems.
• Preventive maintenance and servicing of four booster pumps as per specifications.
• Inspection, cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of critical components such as impellers, bearings, seals, and pressure vessels.
• Electrical and mechanical servicing of pump assemblies, motors, control panels, pressure control systems, and pipework.
• Calibration and testing of pressure switches, gauges, sensors, and safety devices.
• Cleaning of pump room and associated equipment, and ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.
• Provision of documentation including inspection reports, test results, and maintenance records.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health standards and specifications.
• Use of SABS-approved materials and equipment.
• Adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993 and related regulations.
• Inspection and testing of pump assembly, electric motors, control panels, pressure vessels, pipework, and safety devices.
• Calibration of pressure switches, gauges, and transmitters.
• Verification of automatic operation, pressure stability, and system safety features.
• Proper cleaning, testing, and commissioning of the entire booster pump system.
• Preparation of comprehensive maintenance and inspection reports.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• CIDB grading of at least 1 ME and proof of previous similar work.
• Qualified electrical and mechanical technicians with relevant trade certificates and experience.
• Knowledge of pump hydraulics, electrical systems, control panels, and pressure systems.
• Ability to perform calibration, inspection, and testing of pressure and safety devices.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including the preparation of safety files and risk assessments.
• Experience in hospital or critical infrastructure servicing is preferred.
• Capacity to complete the work within the specified contract period of two weeks, with adequate staffing and resources.
