Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the maintenance, servicing, repair, upgrading, replacement, and minor works related to the structural, mechanical, and electrical components of kitchen cold rooms and freezer rooms at Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital. The aim is to ensure the proper functioning, safety, and compliance of these facilities in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Servicing of kitchen cold rooms and freezer rooms, including cleaning, flushing systems, repairing gas leaks, refilling refrigerant gases, and re-flaring piping.
• Installation of new fluorescent lighting fittings and other specified electrical components.
• Carrying out structural repairs, electrical, and mechanical works as per the technical specifications and standards.
• Providing site attendance, supervision, and compliance with health and safety regulations during the execution of works.
• Ensuring the completion of works within the specified contract period of one week, with a minimum guarantee period of three months on all materials and workmanship.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to the specifications outlined in the detailed technical documentation, including the scope of work for refrigeration, electrical, and structural repairs.
• Use of approved and specified materials, including refrigerants (e.g., R410a), lighting fittings, and other components.
• Compliance with all relevant standards such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), and Department of Health specifications.
• Provision of necessary certificates of compliance, including electrical compliance certificates upon completion.
• Proper site management, including safety measures, site attendance, and coordination with hospital staff.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in refrigeration system servicing, repair, and installation, with references to similar projects.
• Qualified and competent personnel, including licensed electricians and refrigeration technicians.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to hospital environments and electrical/mechanical works.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documents.
• Capacity to deliver the project within the stipulated time frame, with effective site supervision and quality control.
