Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a service for the maintenance and servicing of the NICU heating system at Newcastle Hospital. The service aims to ensure the proper functioning, safety, and efficiency of the NICU heating system to support patient care and hospital operations.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Inspection of all heating elements and hot connections, with tightening if necessary.
• Inspection and testing of the blowing fan, including cleaning of the fan unit.
• Checking for vibration and undue noise.
• Removal and replacement of two filters (pleated filters, size approximately 560x560x48mm).
• Cleaning of the plant and plant room area.
• Provision of an after-service report detailing all activities performed.

The service is scheduled to be completed within a contract period of one week, with specific tasks and deliverables outlined in the scope of work and bill of quantities.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to safety standards and the submission of a safety plan.
• Inspection and testing of heating elements, fan units, and connections.
• Replacement of filters with specified dimensions.
• Cleaning and maintenance of the plant area.
• Provision of a detailed after-service report.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including PPE usage and safety documentation.
• Use of SABS and SANS approved materials and components.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• CIDB GRADE 1ME certification, indicating capability to undertake the service.
• Qualified electrical and mechanical personnel with experience in hospital heating systems.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to hospital environments.
• Ability to prepare and submit detailed service reports and safety documentation.
• Competence in inspection, testing, and maintenance of HVAC and heating systems.
