Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a service provider capable of performing particle count tests in various hospital environments, including theatres, specialist clinics, CSSD, and casualty units at Newcastle Hospital. The service aims to ensure the cleanliness and safety standards of these critical areas through accurate particle counting and reporting.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Performing particle count tests in 4 operating theatres.
• Conducting particle count tests in the specialist clinic.
• Carrying out particle count tests in the CSSD (Central Sterile Services Department).
• Providing comprehensive after-service reports detailing the test results and any necessary follow-up actions.

The service must be completed within a contract period of one week, with all work performed during normal working hours (Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 16:00). The contractor must also supply a detailed service report post-completion.

Technical Requirements

• The service must include particle count testing in specified hospital areas.
• All materials used must be new and conform to SABS standards (SANS approved).
• The contractor must provide a safety plan in conjunction with the Safety and Health Manager.
• All work must be performed during designated hours, adhering to occupational health and safety regulations.
• The contractor must supply an after-service report upon completion.
• Material handling and transportation must ensure safety and security of all equipment and samples.
• All prices must be fixed for 90 days from the closing date.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

• Submit a CIDB Grade ME certification with the quotation.
• Provide a Health & Safety file demonstrating compliance with safety standards.
• Demonstrate experience in performing particle count tests in hospital or similar environments.
• Ability to prepare and implement a safety plan in collaboration with hospital safety personnel.
• Provide proof of previous similar work through valid orders and completion certificates.
• Ensure personnel involved are qualified and capable of executing the testing procedures accurately and safely.
