Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services related to the maintenance, servicing, repair, upgrading, and minor works for kitchen equipment at Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital, KwaZulu-Natal. The aim is to ensure the proper functioning, safety, and compliance of kitchen appliances and infrastructure within the hospital facilities.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of services to kitchen equipment at CJM Hospital, including servicing, repairs, and upgrades.
• Carrying out structural works, electrical, and mechanical tasks as specified in the technical and detailed specifications.
• Removal and replacement of old equipment, installation of new fittings, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Site supervision, quality assurance, and adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
• Completion of works within the specified contract period, including site attendance and certification.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Adherence to the detailed specifications provided in Annexure A, including specific tasks such as cleaning, replacing parts, servicing appliances like stoves, ovens, freezers, and lighting installations.
• Compliance with all relevant standards such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, South African Bureau of Standards, and departmental specifications.
• Provision of necessary certificates of compliance, including electrical certificates upon completion.
• Guarantee of work quality with a minimum guarantee period of three months for structural, mechanical, and electrical works.
• Use of approved and specified materials and equipment, with proper handling, installation, and testing procedures.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Qualified and experienced personnel skilled in electrical, mechanical, and structural maintenance of kitchen equipment.
• Competence in handling and installing kitchen appliances, electrical wiring, and plumbing as per standards.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and safety regulations.
• Capacity to carry out site supervision, quality control, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Proven track record in similar maintenance and repair projects within healthcare or institutional environments.
• CIDB grading of 2ME / 2EB or above, indicating capability in electrical and mechanical works.
