The primary objective is to secure a qualified service provider for the comprehensive annual maintenance and servicing of sixteen (16) automatic sliding doors across the King Dinuzulu Hospital Complex. The contract aims to ensure uninterrupted, safe, and code-compliant door operations within an active healthcare facility.
The scope encompasses seven core service areas:
All interventions must be executed during hospital operational hours to minimize disruption to clinical activities. The contractor assumes full responsibility for site security, occupational health and safety compliance, staff identification, restricted zone access, and the safeguarding of all tools and materials. Any damage to existing hospital infrastructure must be rectified at the contractor’s expense.
Service delivery must strictly adhere to the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) Codes of Practice for National Building Regulations and Premises Wiring, alongside the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Administration (KZNPA) Standard Preambles and General Electrical Specifications. Contractors are mandated to submit a comprehensive project safety file upon contract award and provide Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all chemicals and materials utilized. A minimum twelve-month guarantee covers all workmanship. The contract includes a mandatory performance guarantee, with daily penalties of R100.00 applied for delays or non-completion. All goods and services must meet applicable SANS/SABS standards.
Bidders must demonstrate proven experience by providing valid proof of at least two prior contracts involving similar automatic door servicing for any sphere of government. A history of unexcused delivery failures will result in immediate disqualification. Providers must hold current company registration documentation, a valid Central Supplier Database (CSD) compliance report, and appropriate Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) verification or sworn affidavit. Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act is mandatory, supported by relevant certification. Additionally, bidders must supply proof of physical address or municipal rates account.

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.
Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements
To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting
