Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the servicing of fire alarm systems at the Church of Scotland Hospital, ensuring compliance with attached specifications and standards. Additionally, there are objectives related to the servicing of backup generators and associated maintenance at various clinics under the hospital, with an emphasis on quality, safety, and adherence to technical standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Servicing of fire alarm systems as per attached specifications.
• Servicing and maintenance of backup generator sets at multiple clinics, including tasks such as checking electrical connections, replacing filters, batteries, and belts, draining and topping up radiators, and ensuring operational readiness.
• Servicing of generator sets from different brands (Deutz, Volvo, New Way) across various clinics.
• Adherence to standards such as SABS, occupational health and safety, and CIDB grading requirements.
• Provision of detailed reports post-service and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Servicing of fire alarm systems according to attached specifications, including inspection, testing, and replacement of defective components.
• Servicing of generator sets with specific tasks such as checking tightness of connections, replacing filters, batteries, and v-belts, draining radiators, topping up anti-freeze, and ensuring alternator charging.
• Use of qualified professional motor mechanics for generator servicing.
• Compliance with South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) codes, occupational health and safety regulations, and CIDB grading (minimum ME1).
• Preparation of detailed service reports and safety files.
• Adherence to specified schedules and rates, with provisions for penalties in case of non-completion.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Qualified and experienced motor mechanic technicians with expertise in generator servicing and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems, electrical connections, and safety standards.
• Ability to conduct inspections, diagnostics, and repairs in accordance with SABS and occupational health and safety standards.
• Capability to prepare comprehensive reports and maintain safety documentation.
• Proven track record in servicing similar generator and fire alarm systems, preferably with CIDB grading of at least ME1.
• Compliance with procurement regulations, including proper documentation, disclosure of interests, and adherence to preferential procurement policies.
