The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider for the routine preventive maintenance and servicing of diesel-driven standby generators across multiple sub-district clinics in the KwaDukuza area. The initiative aims to ensure reliable backup power supply, extend equipment lifespan, maintain regulatory compliance, and support uninterrupted healthcare delivery.

Scope

The contract encompasses mechanical and electrical servicing of standby generators at nine designated clinics. Services are delivered according to scheduled preventive maintenance intervals (weekly, 240-hour, 480-hour, 720-hour, and 960-hour cycles). Each cycle includes comprehensive inspections, component replacements, fluid management, system bleeding, load testing, and facility cleaning. The contractor is also responsible for the safe removal, documentation, and disposal of redundant materials generated during servicing. The agreement operates on an ad-hoc basis, with each service requiring completion within two weeks of site handover. An unconditional six-month guarantee covers all labour, parts, and materials supplied.

Technical Requirements

• Mechanical Servicing: Inspection and adjustment of fan belts, pulleys, radiator passages, coolant and oil levels, fuel filters, turbochargers, air cleaners, jacket water heaters, batteries, and fuel tank components. Includes draining water from fuel lines, verifying alarm functionality, and cleaning engine/alternator mounting bases.
• Electrical Servicing: Control panel inspection, terminal tightening, MCB/contact verification, lamp/fuse replacement, changeover interlock checks, battery specific gravity testing, starter motor/solenoid evaluation, alternator bearing/grease/diode inspections, and safety circuit validation.
