Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the servicing of a borehole at Ekukhuleni Psychiatric Hospital. The aim is to ensure the borehole functions efficiently, with proper maintenance, water quality assessment, and equipment evaluation, thereby supporting the hospital's water supply needs.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Visiting the site to take measurements and assess existing borehole conditions.
• Inspecting the borehole structure for damage such as cracks or corrosion.
• Evaluating the condition of pumps and related equipment.
• Measuring water yield to determine flow rate.
• Cleaning and maintaining the borehole casing, including mineral deposit removal, scrubbing, and debris flushing.
• Routine maintenance activities such as inspections, water quality testing, and pump component checks.
• Ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations during service.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the service include:

• Compliance with CIDB standards – SO & EB.
• Use of materials that conform to SABS/SANS standards.
• Experience with similar projects for over one year, supported by previous purchase orders.
• Provision of BBBEE certificates.
• Adherence to environmental health standards for disposal of waste and debris.
• Proper removal and disposal of old or damaged materials, with certification of disposal if requested.
• Inspection and approval at various stages by the Department of Health representative.
• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, including PPE and site safety protocols.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Competence in borehole maintenance, including cleaning, inspection, and equipment evaluation.
• Experience in handling water quality assessments and chemical cleaning processes.
• Ability to operate and maintain pumps and related machinery.
• Knowledge of environmental and safety standards applicable to borehole servicing.
• Qualified personnel led by a trained artisan or foreman skilled in borehole and water system maintenance.
• Capacity to work within the hospital environment with minimal disruption, including after-hours work if necessary.
