Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure services for the servicing of water drainage systems and main holes at Ekukhuleni Psychiatric Hospital. The aim is to ensure the proper maintenance and functionality of the hospital’s drainage infrastructure, supporting the hospital’s operational efficiency and hygiene standards.

Scope

The scope of the project includes:

• Servicing of water drainage systems with main holes at Ekukhuleni Psychiatric Hospital.
• Cleaning of drainage lines and main holes using pressure hoses.
• Removal of sand and checking for broken pipes.
• Inspection and verification of main hole covers.
• Provision of detailed reports on the servicing activities.
• Carrying out the work on-site without obstructing hospital operations, with the site cordoned off and kept tidy.
• Adherence to specified standards and safety regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Servicing of drainage systems with main holes, including cleaning and inspection.
• Use of pressure hoses for cleaning water drainage lines.
• Removal of all sand and debris from main holes.
• Checking for broken pipes and ensuring the integrity of main hole covers.
• Provision of a comprehensive report detailing the servicing process and findings.
• Compliance with South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and other relevant standards.
• Work to be completed within a contract period of four weeks from site handover.
• Guarantee period of at least two months for the civil work and materials.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for the successful bidder include:

• Proven experience in servicing water drainage systems and main holes in a healthcare or similar environment.
• CIBD grading of ISO or 1ME.
• Qualified artisan plumbers with certification in accordance with Regulation 1993 of the Skills Development Act.
• Ability to operate pressure hoses and other relevant equipment safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of South African standards and safety regulations related to drainage and construction work.
• Capability to produce detailed technical reports and documentation.
• Availability of necessary tools, equipment, and qualified personnel to carry out the work within the specified timeframe.
