Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure sewing consumables for King Dinizulu Hospital under the Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of quality sewing materials to support hospital operations, including garment repairs, medical textile needs, and related activities.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes the supply of sewing consumables such as sewing pins, sewing cotton thread, calico fabric, and other related items as specified in the detailed specifications. The procurement covers a one-time purchase (once-off) with a validity period of 90 days from the date of advertisement. The items are to be delivered to the hospital's designated location, KDHIC, with all necessary documentation and compliance requirements met.

Technical Requirements

• Item Description: Sewing consumables including sewing pins, sewing cotton thread, calico fabric, etc.
• Quantity: As per the quotation submitted by the supplier.
• Specifications:
  • Calico fabric: 100% cotton, white color, length of 10 meters, width of 140cm, unbleached and unfinished, SABS approved.
  • Sewing pins and sewing cotton thread: specified in the attached evaluation criteria.
• Quality Standards: Items must conform to the specifications provided, including compliance with relevant standards (e.g., SABS approval for fabric).
• Delivery Requirements: Items must be delivered to the specified hospital location within the agreed period, with proper packing to prevent damage during transit.
• Documentation: Submission of all required documents including a valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit, CSD compliance report, and proof of relevant orders and deliveries.
• Preference Points: The procurement will allocate points based on price (80/20 system) and specific goals such as promoting South African owned enterprises (20 points).
• Compliance: All quotations must adhere to the specified specifications, submission deadlines, and mandatory documentation to be considered responsive.
