The primary objective is to procure sterile silicone oil syringes for use in ophthalmology surgical procedures at Grey’s Hospital. The institution aims to secure a reliable, compliant supplier capable of delivering clinically appropriate medical devices that meet stringent safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
The contract encompasses a once-off supply of three silicone oil variants, each packaged in a 10ml syringe: 1000 cts, 2000 cts, and 5000 cts. Fifteen units are required per variant. Delivery must be made directly to the theatre department at Grey’s Hospital. The quotation remains valid for ninety days, and the award will be structured as a single delivery contract without recurring service obligations.
Cts (Centistokes): This unit measures the kinematic viscosity of silicone oil. In vitreoretinal surgery, varying viscosities (1000, 2000, and 5000 cts) are utilised to tamponade the retina. Lower viscosities are easier to remove but dissipate faster, while higher viscosities provide prolonged retinal support but may require specialised extraction techniques. The hospital requires all three grades to accommodate diverse surgical protocols.

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.
Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements
To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting
