Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the steel refurbishment at Small Craft Harbour in Saldanha Bay, ensuring the repair and maintenance of damaged or corroded steel structures within a maximum period of 10 weeks. The project aims to refurbish critical infrastructure such as emergency staircases and leading light structures, supporting port operations and safety.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Refurbishment of damaged/corroded steel structures in the Small Craft Harbour area, including emergency staircases and leading lights.
• Partial deconstruction, surface preparation, rust removal, and surface treatment of steel components.
• Supply, installation, and construction of new steel elements, including hot-dipped galvanized fasteners and structural components.
• Surface painting with primer and finishing coats, ensuring proper adhesion and corrosion protection.
• Site de-establishment, clean-up, and handover procedures.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations, including permits, inductions, and security procedures.
• Coordination with port operations to minimize disruptions during construction.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• Contractor must possess a CIDB grading of 2SL or 2CE to qualify for bidding.
• Adherence to the scope of work detailed in Part C3 and site information in Part C4.
• Preparation and submission of a detailed work method statement, quality control plan, and project schedule.
• Use of approved materials, including corrosion-resistant paints and galvanized fasteners, complying with TNPA standards.
• Implementation of safety measures, including site safety files, inductions, and hazard management.
• Provision of insurance coverage for contract works, public liability, professional indemnity, and other relevant risks.
• Completion within the stipulated 10-week period, with penalties for delays.
• Coordination with TNPA personnel and adherence to site access and security protocols.
