Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for steel work repairs at Victoria Mxenge Hospital, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with relevant standards. The project aims to restore safety functionality at specified hospital areas, including ramps, drainage covers, and gates, while adhering to occupational health and safety regulations.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Manufacture and installation of drain covers at Laundry offload front area, Nursery medical gas entrance, and maternity ambulance loading area.
• Steel repairs at Room 6 toilet ramp, casualty entrance ramp, church ramp, and Gate 2.
• Replacement and repair of gate components, including wheels, guides, locks, and painting.
• Maintenance and repair of fixed plant, equipment, and installations within Victoria Mxenge Hospital.
• Implementation of health and safety measures during construction, including site safety, signage, and risk management.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Manufacture of drain covers from 10 mm thick U-channel and 12 mm thick mild steel plates with specific dimensions and welded joints, finished with hot dip galvanizing or smooth finish.
• Steel work repairs involving installation of handrails, stanchions, chemical anchor bolts, and galvanizing of gate components.
• Use of approved materials such as SABS certified products, galvanizing processes, and CIDB registered companies.
• Compliance with detailed drawings, specifications, and safety standards as per site meeting instructions.
• Provision of detailed work plans, safety files, and method statements prior to commencement.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in steel fabrication, galvanizing, and installation works.
• Capability to manufacture custom steel components as per technical drawings and specifications.
• Competence in site safety management, including adherence to occupational health and safety regulations.
• Qualified personnel such as CIDB-registered contractors, certified welders, and safety officers.
• Ability to prepare and submit comprehensive work plans, safety files, and quality assurance documentation.
• Effective project management skills to ensure timely completion within the specified duration.
