Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit qualified and experienced service providers to undertake the construction of a concrete road and associated infrastructure in Steephill Ward 1, Myshingwana Road. The project aims to improve road infrastructure, ensure compliance with relevant legislation, and promote local economic development.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Site clearance and preparation
• Roadbed preparation with undercut and compaction
• Construction of a 100 m long, 5 m wide concrete road with 150 mm thickness, including joints, reinforcement, and finishing
• Construction of a V-drain on one side of the road (100 m length, 1 m width, 330 mm depth)
• Earthworks and pavement layers using gravel or crushed stone
• Installation of concrete pavements with specified standards and quality control measures
• Compliance with legislative provisions, standards, and safety regulations

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Construction of a concrete road with a length of 100 m, width of 5 m, and thickness of 150 mm, including reinforcement with wire mesh ref 193
• Use of Grade 25 MPa concrete for the pavement and Grade 20 MPa concrete for the V-drain
• Proper jointing, curing, and finishing to ensure durability and skid resistance
• Construction of V-drain with specified dimensions and proper tie-in to the road edge
• Adherence to standards such as SANS 1200, COTO specifications, and SABS material standards
• Implementation of quality control measures including testing and inspection of materials and workmanship
• Compliance with health and safety legislation, including preparation of safety files and provision of PPE
• Completion within a period of 6 weeks from the award date

Skills Requirements

The tender emphasizes the need for:

• Proven experience in constructing concrete roads, supported by a list of completed projects with proof of award and completion certificates
• Qualified personnel, including a foreman, technician, or site agent with experience in concrete road construction (CVs to be attached)
• Capability to execute site clearance, earthworks, reinforcement, concrete placement, jointing, curing, and drainage construction
• Adherence to safety standards and regulations, with competent safety personnel and proper safety management plans
• Ability to meet quality standards through inspection, testing, and compliance with specifications
