Tender Summary: Construction of Steephill in Ward 16, Danganya Road

Objectives

The primary objective is to engage a qualified and experienced contractor to deliver a durable, code-compliant concrete road section in Ward 16 (Danganya Road) under Umdoni Municipality. The project aims to improve local infrastructure through precise earthworks, reinforced concrete paving, and drainage construction, executed within a strict six-week timeframe while adhering to national health, safety, and procurement regulations.

Scope of Work

• Site Clearance: Clear and grub the entire road reserve, removing all vegetation, debris, and unsuitable materials.
• Roadbed Preparation: Excavate a 150 mm undercut, proof-roll the subgrade, and compact in-situ material to 95% Modified AASHTO density. Shape and level to the required profile.
• Concrete Pavement: Construct a 100 m × 5 m reinforced concrete slab with a 150 mm thickness using 25 MPa grade concrete (slump 75–100 mm, max aggregate 19 mm).
• Reinforcement & Joints: Install Ref 193 welded steel mesh at mid-depth with 300 mm laps. Form contraction joints every 3–5 metres and expansion joints as required, sealing all joints with approved sealant.
• V-Drain Construction: Build a 100 m long, 1 m wide, 330 mm deep V-drain on one side, lined with 150 mm thick 20 MPa concrete, shaped for proper drainage and erosion control.
• Curing & Finishing: Apply water or curing compound for a minimum of seven days. Provide a broom-finished surface for skid resistance.
