Objectives

To procure and deliver essential kitchen appliances to Montebello Hospital, supporting staff residences and patient care facilities while adhering to the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health’s supply chain management policies and value-for-money principles.

Scope

A one-off contract for the supply and delivery of the following quantities to the hospital premises:

• Two (2) 30-litre microwave ovens
• One (1) 1.5–1.7-litre electric kettle
• Eight (8) 150-litre refrigerators
• Four (4) water dispensers
• Four (4) four-plate solid stoves with ovens

Technical Requirements

• All goods must be new, unused, current models, and compliant with SANS/SABS standards.
• Microwave Ovens: Single-door, 38×48×28 cm, metallic finish, steel construction.
• Electric Kettles: Auto shut-off, dry-boil protection, 0.8–1.5 kg weight, stainless steel or plastic build.
• Refrigerators: Single-door, bottom freezer, 150L capacity, metallic/steel exterior, within specified dimensional tolerances.
• Water Dispensers: Dual-reservoir heating/chilling, compatible with 18.9–20L jugs, four-legged stand, high durability.
• Stoves: 57L compact electric unit, four solid hotplates, integrated bake/grill oven, front controls, A-energy rating, free-standing steel construction.
• Products must retain a minimum shelf life of six months upon delivery. Prices must be firm for ninety days and inclusive of all delivery costs. Second-hand or expired products will be rejected.

Skills Requirements

• Demonstrated capacity to supply similar goods to public or private healthcare facilities, evidenced by valid past order confirmations and delivery notes.
• Administrative proficiency to complete mandatory returnable documents, including Central Supplier Database (CSD) verification, tax clearance validation, CIPC registration, and B-BBEE status proof.
• Logistical capability to ensure timely, undamaged delivery and manage warranty servicing in accordance with government contract obligations.

Key Terms & Conditions

The tender employs an 80/20 Preferential Scoring System, allocating eighty points for price competitiveness and twenty points for specific socio-economic goals. The twenty points are exclusively reserved for enterprises located within the Ndwedwe Municipality; failure to provide verifiable municipal proof results in zero points for this category but does not disqualify the bid. Submissions must utilise official, unaltered quotation forms; typed or redrafted documents will be rejected. Contracts are governed by standard General Conditions of Contract, including performance security provisions, daily prime interest rate penalties for delayed delivery, and strict prohibitions against cover-quoting or collusive bidding practices. All decisions regarding responsiveness, specification compliance, and contract award are final.
