Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver a minus 40°C refrigerator (amended) to Benedictine Hospital's Pharmacy, ensuring the provision of a reliable, compliant, and efficient cold storage solution for vaccines and immunisable medicines.

Scope

The scope encompasses the procurement, supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, and testing of a vaccine refrigerator with freezer compartment, meeting specified technical and quality standards, including optional accessories and after-sales support, within the specified contractual and technical parameters.

Technical Requirements

• The refrigerator must maintain a temperature range of +2°C to +8°C, with a separate freezer compartment at -15°C to -10°C.
• The unit should have a minimum capacity of 200L for the fridge and 40L for the freezer.
• The system must be CFC free, using R134a refrigerant, and comply with WHO guidelines and standards.
• The unit must be mobile with castor wheels, lockable as specified.
• Features include accurate digital temperature control, anti-freeze protection, alarm notifications, stainless steel interior, double gasket doors, LED lighting, fan-assisted cooling, and reliable solar-powered temperature display.
• The unit should be WHO approved, with a guarantee period of at least 24 months, and include provisions for maintenance and optional accessories.
• Additional specifications include compliance with SABS standards, proper insulation, and safety standards such as IEC 60601-1 for electrical safety.
• The equipment must be supplied with manuals, calibration tools, and spare parts availability for at least 10 years.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in manufacturing or supplying vaccine refrigeration units compliant with WHO and South African standards.
• Technical expertise in refrigeration systems, including installation, commissioning, and maintenance of medical-grade refrigerators.
• Capability to provide comprehensive training to hospital staff and in-house technicians on operation, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Established service and repair facilities within KwaZulu-Natal, with qualified technicians trained by original equipment manufacturers.
• Ability to supply, install, and support optional accessories, software updates, and spare parts over the equipment's lifecycle.
• Compliance with legal and safety standards, including hazardous substances licensing where applicable.
