Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver various sizes of oral Rae (South Polar Facing) cuffed endotracheal tubes for a duration of three years. The contract aims to ensure the hospital has a reliable supply of these specialized medical devices to support short-term oral intubation procedures, particularly in complex or critical cases requiring precise airway management.

Scope

The scope includes the supply and delivery of cuffed oral Rae endotracheal tubes in various sizes, packaged sterilely for single use. The contract covers a three-year period, with the possibility of renewal or extension based on performance and hospital requirements. The tubes must meet specified technical and safety standards, including compatibility with existing equipment and compliance with medical regulations.

Technical Requirements

• Endotracheal tubes must be cuffed, sterile, and individually packed in peel pouches.
• Sizes required include ID 6.0 mm, 6.5 mm, 7.0 mm, 7.5 mm, and 8.0 mm, with specific dimensions and length specifications for each.
• Manufactured from medical-grade PVC with latex-free components, featuring a clear thermo-sensitive PVC tube with a radio-opaque line.
• Design must include a South Polar performed curve that can be temporarily straightened, with a beveled atraumatic tip and Murphy eye.
• Markings on the tube should include depth, size, length, ID, OD, trade name, and must be clear and durable.
• Cuffs must inflate to high volumes with low pressures, have a pilot cuff with a one-way valve, and resist Nitrous Oxide effects.
• Secure circuit connector with 15mm OD and markings for proper positioning during intubation.
• Compliance with relevant standards and specifications, including SANAS/SABS standards.

Skills Requirements

• Bidder must demonstrate technical capability in manufacturing or supplying high-quality medical endotracheal tubes.
• Ability to meet strict sterilization, packaging, and labeling standards.
• Knowledge of relevant medical device regulations and standards (e.g., SANAS, SABS, SAHPRA).
• Experience in supplying hospitals or healthcare facilities with similar medical devices.
• Capacity to provide technical support, documentation, and compliance certificates upon request.
