Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver surgical and medical personal protective equipment (PPE) including items such as masks, gloves, gowns, goggles, coveralls, overshoes, and related PPE to St Francis Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal. The aim is to ensure the hospital is equipped with high-quality PPE to maintain infection control, safety, and hygiene standards for healthcare workers and patients.

Scope

The scope encompasses the procurement, supply, and delivery of various PPE items as specified in the tender documentation. This includes:

• Head gear (balaclava hooded)
• N95 masks (box of 35 or 50 pcs)
• Scrub suits in multiple sizes
• Overshoes (knee length and ankle length)
• Fluid-resistant disposable gowns and coveralls
• Goggles and surgical face masks
• Specialized PPE for Ebola and outbreak response, including full-body coveralls and outbreak suits

The delivery is to be a once-off, with items to meet specified standards and specifications, including compliance with SABS standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Items must conform to the specifications attached in the annexure, including size, material, colour, and quality standards (e.g., SABS approved).
• Items must be new, unused, and of the most recent models, with no defects arising from design, materials, or workmanship.
• Packaging must ensure protection during transit and storage, with appropriate markings and documentation.
• Items such as masks and goggles must meet specified filtration and barrier levels (e.g., PFE ≥ 99%, Level 2 barrier).
• All PPE must meet infection control standards suitable for healthcare environments, including sterile and non-sterile options where specified.
• Suppliers must provide samples if required and attend compulsory site inspections or briefings.

Skills and Competencies Required

Procuring entities expect bidders to demonstrate:

• Experience in supplying healthcare PPE and related equipment
• Knowledge of relevant standards and quality requirements (e.g., SABS standards)
• Ability to meet technical specifications and delivery timelines
• Capacity to provide technical support, documentation, and after-sales service
