Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver vaginal speculums in small, medium, and large sizes to Eshowe Hospital, ensuring availability of sterile, disposable instruments that meet specified standards for inventory and clinical use.

Scope

The scope encompasses the procurement of disposable vaginal speculums in three sizes (small, medium, large), including their specification, quality assurance, packaging, and timely delivery to Eshowe Hospital. The contract is a once-off supply, with the possibility of fulfilling specific quantity requirements as detailed in the specifications.

Technical Requirements

• Size and Dimensions:
  • Small: approx. 100mm – 105mm length
  • Medium: blade width around 30.5mm to 38mm
  • Large: designed for wider, longer blades suitable for certain patients
• Material: Clear, non-toxic, medical-grade plastic (e.g., polystyrene or acrylic), latex-free.
• Design: Duck-bill shape with smooth, rounded edges; Graves-style for medium and large sizes.
• Sterilization: Ethylene Oxide (EO) gas sterilized; individually packed.
• Opening Angle: Approximately 38 to 45 degrees for optimal access.
• Locking Mechanism: Secure ratchet system for vertical and angular adjustment.
• Packaging: Individually packed in polybags, blister packs, or film; quantity per box (e.g., 10 units).
• Usage: Single-use disposable to prevent cross-contamination.
• Compliance: Must meet SANAS/SABS standards and specifications attached in annexures.

Skills and Additional Requirements

• Bidder must demonstrate capability to supply sterile, medical-grade disposable speculums in specified sizes.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety standards, including sterilization and packaging protocols.
• Provide documentation and proof of conformity to specifications, quality standards, and sterilization processes.
• Timely delivery to the designated hospital address, with adherence to the specified contract period (once-off).
• Complete all required forms and declarations, including bidder disclosure and preference claim forms.
