Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver visual assistive devices (optical lab equipment) to Ceza / Thulasizwe Hospital for a contract period of six months. The aim is to ensure the hospital is equipped with the necessary optical devices to support eye care services.

Scope

The scope includes the procurement, supply, and delivery of various optical assistive devices such as spectacles (single vision, bifocal, multifocal, ready-mades), spectacle frames, low vision devices (magnifiers, telescopes), and related accessories. The contract duration is six months, with the possibility of supply of specified quantities as per the detailed technical specifications.

Technical Requirements

• Complete sets of spectacles including frames, lenses (single vision, bifocal, multifocal, ready-mades), with options for various prescriptions and tints.
• Frames must be metal or plastic, SABS approved, and suitable for all face shapes and ages, including children.
• Low vision devices such as telescopes, magnifiers (stand, hand-held, dome, bar, binocular), with specified magnifications.
• All devices must meet the detailed specifications outlined in the H.T.S. M 71 (Mechanical) document, including lens types, coatings, and frame standards.
• Accessories and replacement parts must be supplied at no extra cost, with guarantees on upgradability and immediate usability upon delivery.
• All equipment must be new, unused, and conform to the specified quality standards.
• Suppliers must provide samples for evaluation if requested, and all items must be delivered within the specified delivery period.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in supplying optical devices and assistive eye care equipment.
• Registered practitioners or suppliers must be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as optometrists or dispensing opticians.
• Capability to meet technical specifications and quality standards outlined in the tender documents.
• Ability to provide technical support, training, and after-sales service for the supplied devices.
• Compliance with all legal, safety, and procurement regulations, including VAT registration and tax compliance.
