Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a supplier capable of providing and delivering Cancellous Bone Chips, along with related bone graft materials, to Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal. The aim is to ensure the hospital has a reliable supply of high-quality bone graft materials for orthopedic procedures, including donor bone and bone substitutes such as demineralized cancellous bone matchsticks, Achilles tendons, and fibula shafts.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Supply and delivery of various cancellous bone graft materials, including:
• 50 units of cancellous bone chips (5x5x5mm, 2 grams each)
• 10 units of demineralized cancellous bone matchsticks (5x5x40mm)
• 5 units of Achilles tendons (20cm)
• 2 units of fibula shafts (10cm)

The delivery is a once-off requirement, with the supplier responsible for providing the specified quantities in accordance with the technical and quality standards outlined in the specifications. The procurement also covers compliance with evaluation criteria, including technical specifications, preference points, and submission of samples for quality assurance.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• Bone graft materials must be harvested and prepared cadaver bones, lyophilized, and sterile.
• Items must conform to specified sizes, weights, and packaging standards (individually wrapped, sterile containers).
• Materials should meet the specifications for size, color (white), and functionality (bone grafting).
• Samples must be provided upon request for evaluation and testing to ensure compliance with the specifications.
• All products must be approved by the specifications committee and meet the relevant health and safety standards.
