Objectives

The primary objective is to procure and execute the supply, delivery, and professional installation of bronze aluminium doors and windows, alongside the replacement of door locking mechanisms, across designated healthcare facilities under the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health. The project aims to enhance facility security, improve structural functionality, and maintain uninterrupted clinical operations.

Scope of Work

• Supply and install a bronze aluminium reception window featuring a secure document receiving space at Sovane Clinic.
• Supply and replace aluminium doors and windows at Njoko Clinic, including specific glass panel replacements.
• Remove existing hardware and install three-lever Union mortice locks on main and store room doors.
• Provide all materials, tools, skilled labour, transport, and comprehensive site clearance.
• Complete all works within a strict one-week period following official order issuance.
• Execute tasks while the facility remains fully operational, ensuring minimal disruption to patients and staff.
• Manage daily waste removal in compliance with environmental regulations and assume full liability for site security post-handover.

Technical Requirements

• All materials must be brand-new, unused, of the latest design, and bear SABS certification where applicable.
• Works must strictly comply with the National Building Regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993).
• Precise dimensional specifications apply, including heavy-duty solid aluminium door frames, reinforced glass panels (900 mm × 800 mm × 4 mm), and custom window configurations.
• Materials require prior verification and written approval by the hospital maintenance supervisor upon delivery.
• Final installations are subject to formal inspection and acceptance before contract closure.
• A mandatory twelve-month warranty covers all defects in materials and workmanship, commencing upon successful handover.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

• Valid Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) registration at Grade 1 GB or higher.
• Active registration on the Central Suppliers Database (CSD) and Provincial Suppliers Database with verified tax compliance status.
• Documentary proof of completing at least two similar construction or glazing projects within the preceding five years.
• Deployment of at least one qualified technical specialist holding a recognized Carpenter trade test certificate.
• Employment of competent, trade-skilled artisans capable of executing precision joinery and security hardware installations.
• Submission of a sworn BBBEE affidavit or verification certificate to qualify for preferential procurement points.
