Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and install fire safety signs and general signs at Northdale Hospital, ensuring compliance with safety standards, including photoluminescent and weather-resistant features, to enhance safety and emergency preparedness within the facility.

Scope

The scope encompasses the provision of various fire safety signage, including fire extinguisher signs, fire arrow signs, fire hose signs, fire hydrant signs, smoking area signs, escape route signs, mandatory signs, and other related safety signs. The work involves both supply and installation, with specific requirements for sign size, material, color, and mounting methods, including the use of chains for ceiling-mounted signs.

Technical Requirements

• Signs must be SABS/SANS approved.
• Signs should be photoluminescent (glow in the dark).
• Size specifications: typically 150 mm x 150 mm.
• Weather-resistant and durable for indoor and outdoor use.
• Signs to be mounted using chains (ceiling or passage installation).
• Signs must include specific symbols and text as per safety standards.
• Samples of each sign type must be provided for approval prior to installation.
• Signs include fire fighting equipment signage, direction to escape routes, mandatory safety signs, and other relevant safety notices.

Skills Requirements

• Technical expertise in signage manufacturing, including familiarity with SABS/SANS standards.
• Experience in signage installation, particularly in safety-critical environments such as hospitals.
• Ability to produce photoluminescent and weather-resistant signage.
• Capability to provide samples and ensure compliance with detailed specifications.
