Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to procure, supply, and install structured cabling network points at the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) Cala Lab facility. The project aims to enhance laboratory connectivity infrastructure while ensuring full compliance with South African public procurement regulations.

Scope of Work

• New Installation: Supply and terminate Cat 6 network points with professional labeling.
• Repairs: Diagnose and fix existing faulty network drops.
• Removal: Safely decommission unused network points and extract associated trunking.
• Power Backup: Supply 12V car batteries to serve as auxiliary power for external UPS units feeding network cabinets.

Technical Requirements

• All installations must meet industry standards for Cat 6 cabling, including proper termination, testing, and labeling protocols.
• Quotations must be priced in South African Rand (ZAR). Unit prices exclude VAT, which must be calculated separately in the final total.
• Pricing is fixed for the contract duration and only adjustable per formal contractual variation processes.
• Delivery and execution must strictly follow the agreed project schedule. Unjustified delays trigger financial penalties under the General Conditions of Contract.
• Bidders must submit mandatory administrative documentation, including tax compliance verification, Central Supplier Database (CSD) registration, signed declarations of interest, and completed preference claim forms.

Skills & Experience Requirements

• Proven expertise in structured cabling systems, specifically Cat 6 installation, termination, certification, and labeling.
• Competence in troubleshooting and repairing active network points without disrupting live lab operations.
• Ability to safely remove legacy cabling and trunking while maintaining site cleanliness and compliance.
• Basic understanding of low-voltage power integration for UPS backup systems.
• A technically qualified representative must attend any site inspections to assess working conditions and implications.
• Submission of a verified track record detailing similar past contracts, including scope, contract value, duration, and client references.
