Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and install waste cages at NHLS Stanger and NHLS Mbongalwane Laboratories, ensuring proper biohazard waste storage and associated infrastructure as specified in the scope of work.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Supply and installation of biohazard waste storage cages, bolted to foundations, with specifications for storm water drainage.
• Provision of associated infrastructure such as storm water drainage, plumbing, electrical installations, doors, glazing, ceilings, partitioning, and finishes.
• Completion of works in phases, coordinating with hospital operations, and ensuring minimal disruption.
• Guarantee, maintenance, and retention periods as specified, including defect rectification and repairs during the guarantee period.

Technical Requirements

The technical scope encompasses:

• Construction of waste cages with specified materials and dimensions.
• Installation of plumbing fixtures including sinks, taps, geysers, and associated water supply and drainage systems.
• Electrical installations including wiring, switches, plugs, and safety devices, compliant with SANS10142 standards.
• Installation of doors (including glass and aluminium), glazing (float and laminated safety glass), blinds, suspended ceilings, drywall partitioning, and finishes.
• Flooring with approved ceramic, porcelain tiles, or carpets, with appropriate waterproofing and finishing.
• Provision of internal and external glazing, mirrors, and other fixtures as specified.
• Adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the project.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• CIDB registration in at least 1GB category or higher.
• Qualified and experienced project management personnel with relevant CVs and certificates.
• Skilled tradespeople including licensed plumbers, electricians, carpenters, glaziers, and tilers.
• Proven experience in similar projects, supported by contactable references and completion certificates.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including OHS Act compliance and safety signage standards.
• Capability to coordinate multi-disciplinary trades, manage phased construction in operational environments, and ensure quality control.
• Ability to provide guarantees, maintenance, and handle defect rectification during the specified periods.
