Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, and install a floor-standing or benchtop cryostat at the Polokwane Histology Laboratory in Limpopo. The project aims to procure a cryostat that meets specified technical standards to support histological work within the laboratory.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Provision of a floor-standing or benchtop cryostat with specified features such as glass slide window, operating temperature of -40°C, and section thickness capability between 3 to 20 microns.
• Delivery of the equipment within 4 to 8 weeks from contract award.
• Installation and commissioning of the cryostat at the designated Polokwane Histology Laboratory.
• Provision of manufacturer data sheets and brochures confirming specifications.

Technical Requirements

The cryostat must comply with the following specifications:

• Type: Floor-standing or benchtop cryostat with glass slide window on chamber
• Operating chamber temperature: -40°C or below
• Section thickness: 3 to 20 microns
• Digital temperature display
• Disposable knife holder with anti-roll plate
• Automatic defrosting with manual defrost option
• Specimen disc advance mechanism (press button and manual options)
• Lighting in chamber
• At least 6 specimen disc holders

Skills Requirements

Suppliers must demonstrate:

• Experience in supplying and installing laboratory cryostats
• Provision of manufacturer brochures and data sheets confirming compliance with technical specifications
• Ability to deliver and install equipment within the specified timeframe
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment standards and safety protocols
• Compliance with relevant quality management standards (e.g., ISO 9001 or ISO 13485)
• Capability to provide warranty and after-sales support
