Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, and install cupboards in the Paediatric Ward at Murchison Hospital. The work aims to enhance storage facilities for patient belongings, linen, and medical consumables, ensuring they meet hospital standards for safety, hygiene, and functionality.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply of new cupboards constructed from durable, moisture-resistant oak wood or oak veneer on MDF/Plywood substrates.
• Delivery and off-site manufacturing based on precise site measurements.
• Installation of cupboards in designated areas within the Paeds Ward, including Milk Kitchen, Sluice Room, Staff Kitchen, and Paeds Kitchen.
• Connection, testing, and commissioning to ensure proper operation.
• Removal of existing cupboards and waste materials.
• Provision of hardware such as locks, hinges, handles, and soft-close mechanisms.
• Adherence to hospital safety, infection control, and health standards throughout the process.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the cupboards are as follows:

• Material: Solid oak wood or oak veneer with moisture-resistant MDF/Plywood core, 16-22 mm thickness.
• Finish: Medical-grade polyurethane sealer, moisture-resistant coating, scratch-resistant surface.
• Design: Rounded or smooth edges, easy-to-clean surfaces, resistant to scratches, stains, and cleaning chemicals.
• Hardware: Heavy-duty stainless steel hinges, soft-close mechanisms, stainless steel handles, lockable with two keys.
• Countertops: Solid oak wood, 610 mm post-form with splashback, sealed with moisture-resistant finish.
• Installation: Accurate site measurements, off-site manufacturing, level and secure fixing, anchoring to walls, sealing sinks with silicone, and protecting surrounding finishes.
• Compliance: Must meet CHSA and SANS standards, and adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in manufacturing and installing hospital-grade cabinetry, specifically in healthcare environments.
• Capability to produce custom oak cupboards according to detailed specifications and drawings.
• Competence in site measurement, off-site fabrication, and precise installation techniques.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards, infection control protocols, and hospital safety procedures.
• Ability to coordinate with hospital staff and maintenance teams to ensure minimal disruption and compliance with hospital policies.
• Qualified personnel with relevant trade certifications, including carpentry, joinery, and health and safety compliance.
