Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, install, test, commission, license, and provide a two-year maintenance plan for four (4) X-ray scanners and ten (10) advanced security walkthrough metal detectors at the Durban Multi-Purpose Terminal (MPT) and Car Terminal. The goal is to enhance security screening capabilities, safeguard personnel and infrastructure, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Supply, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning, licensing, and maintenance of:
• Four (4) baggage X-ray scanners with specified technical features and a two-year maintenance and licensing agreement.
• Ten (10) advanced walkthrough metal detectors with body temperature scanning capabilities, including training and maintenance for two years.

The work must be carried out across designated TPT sites, adhering to safety and security protocols.

2. Walkthrough Metal Detectors

• Display: LCD touchscreen, password protected
• Sensitivity: Detects ferrous and non-ferrous objects with sensitivity >200
• Traffic counting: Automatic passenger and alarm event counting
• Detection: Digital signature processing with overlapping detection zones
• Alarm: Audible (16 tones, adjustable volume) and visual (LED bars)
• Build: Aluminum frame with high-density fireproof material, waterproof (IP65)
• Power backup: 2-4 hours; Handheld wand included
• Self-calibrating and harmless to pregnant women and pacemaker users

Skills and Compliance Requirements

Service providers must demonstrate:

• Registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) at least Grade “A” and provide a valid good standing letter
• Compliance with international and South African standards, including ISO, IEC, SANS, SANS 61010, SANS 60950/62368, and SANS 60529
• Adherence to SAHPRA and POPIA regulations
• Availability of spare parts and local technicians for maintenance and support
• Experience in supplying and installing similar security equipment, with at least five (5) relevant projects completed in the last five years
• Qualified OEM-trained technicians with certifications in equipment operation, calibration, and fault handling

• Training delivery covering operation, calibration, fault handling, and safety procedures, with attendance registers
