The primary objective of this quotation is to procure essential clinical and infection-control supplies for Ekuhlengeni Psychiatric Hospital. The procurement seeks to maintain continuous patient care and staff safety by sourcing compliant, high-quality medical equipment through a transparent, legally compliant, and preferential public procurement process.

Scope

The contract covers the one-off supply and direct delivery of the following items to the hospital:

• Stethoscopes: 7 units
• Isolation Underwear: 50 units
• Surgical Hood Balaclavas: 5 boxes (each containing 50 units)

All goods must be delivered to the specified facility. The quotation remains valid for 90 days, and the agreement is structured as a single delivery event. Quoted prices must be firm and fully inclusive of transportation and handling costs.

Technical Requirements

Bidders must supply brand-new, unused products that strictly conform to the following specifications:

• Stethoscope: Dual-head configuration with an adult head diameter of 45mm. Must include a stainless steel metal retaining ring, coordinated trimming, a 4.50×4.50×0.20 cm diaphragm (black or approved alternative), bimanual tubing assembly, no chill rings, latex-free materials, and quality plastic ear tips designed for comfort.
• Isolation Underwear: Unisex design available in multiple sizes. Must be durable, elasticated, and manufactured from breathable, stretchable, cloth-like fabric. Supplied individually or in packs of 100.
• Surgical Hood Balaclava: Disposable, anti-static, fluid-resistant, and tear-resistant. Must feature extended-length tie-ups to ensure full facial and neck coverage. Supplied in boxed quantities.

Additional technical mandates require compliance with SABS/SANS standards, a minimum shelf-life validity of six months upon delivery, and valid SAHPRA authorisation where applicable. Expired, refurbished, or non-conforming items will be automatically rejected.

Skills & Capacity Requirements

No specialised professional certifications are required, but bidders must demonstrate administrative and logistical capacity to meet public sector procurement standards. Essential capabilities include:

• Active registration and successful verification on the Central Suppliers Database (CSD).
• Current tax compliance status verified through the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
• Valid Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) status certificate or sworn affidavit.
• Proven supply chain and distribution capability to deliver medical-grade goods within agreed timeframes.
• Administrative competence to accurately complete mandatory standard bid documentation and disclosure declarations.
