Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, design, and deliver branded tourism maps that highlight attractions, cultural sites, accommodation, transport routes, and key services within the Saldanha Bay Region. The maps aim to promote tourism and support local economic development by providing professional, user-friendly, and geographically accurate marketing tools that reflect the Municipality’s brand identity and enhance visitor experience in both print and digital formats.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Design and development of a full-colour, branded tourism map incorporating the Municipality’s logo, slogan, and colour scheme.
• Use of clear icons and symbols for attractions, accommodation, cultural sites, and transport routes.
• Provision of final editable design files (AI, INDD or equivalent), print-ready PDFs, and digital versions optimized for web and mobile devices.
• Inclusion of key attractions such as game reserves, hiking trails, museums, heritage sites, nature reserves, and marine activities.
• Printing of 500 full-colour copies and 100 tear-off map pads (A3 size, 100 sheets per pad).
• Design must accurately represent the geographical area of Saldanha Bay Municipality.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the project include:

• Development of a map that covers the Saldanha Bay Municipal area with clear icons and symbols.
• Deliverables must include editable design files (AI, INDD or equivalent), print-ready PDFs, and digital formats suitable for web and mobile use.
• Printed copies: 500 full-colour copies with professional-grade finish.
• Tear-off map pads: A3 size, 100 sheets per pad, 100 pads in total.
• Design must incorporate the Municipality’s branding elements and geographical accuracy.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Recognized qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Cartography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or Publishing.
• Minimum of 3–5 years proven experience in designing tourism, destination marketing, or geographical maps.
• Ability to demonstrate a portfolio of similar projects, including print and digital maps, preferably within the tourism or public sector.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS).
• Understanding of tourism marketing and branding principles, especially within the West Coast region.
• Capability to produce high-quality, professional design outputs that meet the specified technical and branding standards.
