Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a supply of electric nebulizers that meet specified technical and quality standards for use at Umphumulo Hospital under the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health. The aim is to ensure the availability of reliable, safe, and compliant nebulizer equipment to support medical treatments related to respiratory conditions.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply of electric compressor-type nebulizers, including necessary accessories, training, servicing, and maintenance support. The procurement is for a once-off supply intended for immediate deployment at the hospital, with the possibility of related after-sales support as specified in the technical requirements.

Technical Requirements

• The nebulizer must be of the compressor type, compliant with the specifications outlined in the Department of Health's standards (H.T.S. A8, ANAESTHETICS).
• The equipment must operate off a 220V, 50Hz AC power supply, fitted with a 15 Amp approved mains plug.
• The device must meet international electrical safety standards such as IEC 60601-1 and 60601-1-2, and be CE Certified.
• The unit should be new, unused, and of the latest model with current technology, with a minimum expected life of several years.
• The equipment must be supplied with calibration, maintenance software, and necessary accessories, including a hospital-grade mains cable of at least 3 meters length.
• The nebulizer must comply with occupational health and safety regulations, wiring codes (S.A.N.S. 0142), and hazardous substance legislation.
• Provision for demonstration, training, servicing, and technical support by qualified technicians must be included.
• The device should be capable of fulfilling the purpose of nebulizing medications for patients with breathing difficulties and life-saving interventions.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified technical personnel must be available to demonstrate the equipment to hospital technicians and provide comprehensive training in calibration, maintenance, and repair down to PCB level.
• The supplier must have an established service and repair facility within KwaZulu-Natal, with the capacity to service, repair, and calibrate the equipment.
• Technicians involved in servicing must be directly employed or contracted with proper certification and experience, capable of providing ongoing support and updates.
• The bidder must supply detailed documentation, including training certificates, service manuals, and proof of evaluation by recognized authorities where applicable.
